Last day in England

I woke up Sunday feeling refreshed, which was a surprise as I thought I would have too many thoughts bouncing around my head to get to sleep.

Today was the day I was finally going to South Africa, after months of applying, interviews, fundraising, orientation and preparing. I had to walk to church this morning because I had sold my car the day before. This was extremely sad. As I was strolling there, I realised this would be the last time I would be in that church build; the last time I would see those friends and the last I would be worship God in that atmosphere for a few months. Even though I knew this, it still didn’t quite seem realistic. At the end of the service as I was saying ‘farewell’, it just felt like I would be there the next week; I will see friends during the week.

After the service, some of the church prayed for me, which was really encouraging and just made me feel even more at peace.

My flight wasn’t until the evening but still had a busy afternoon. There were a few thing I needed to pack and do before leaving, including printing photos at Tesco’s to put in my ‘new home’. I enjoyed a cooked lunch of fish pie and rhubarb crumble for dessert with the amazing couple I live with and my sister.

It came to 4pm… It was time to start my adventure.
