Newquay… Not exactly what I thought

A trip to Newquay was on the agenda as its a place I’ve been told to go to, especially as I was holiday down in Cornwall. But I must say, it was a bit different than expected.

First, Newquay zoo. For the price you pay, I was disappointed. It only took an hour to get around. An hour, that’s all. However, there were some interesting animals: zebras, monkeys, lions, meerkats and penguins. There were some cages, where I definitely couldn’t find the animal. Not sure they were all hiding. And not to forget, there were no elephants. Elephants are my favourite so should be a must in every zoo. Just my opinion.

I have to say, I have been to many of zoos in my time, in the UK, and around the world so starting to become an expert in them.

Newquay town looked a little shabby, needed a bit of maintaining. Sort of shops that are in most touristy towns. As I’m getting older, I am preferring quaint, little villages with unique shops and somewhere with a bit of character.

Looking onto the beaches were beautiful, very picturesque. Lying there in the blazing sun, hearing the waves was peaceful. The sand wasn’t my sort of sand, that is soft and squelchy under the toes. Rather, sand with tiny stones that stuck to my legs but all was fine when I went for a refreshing paddle. Well, more like a swim.
